Spring Blueberries

For a very short time – maybe only a week each year – the blueberry bushes turn bright red.  I know that bushes might be an odd thing to run around taking pictures of but after such a long winter it’s nice to see any color that isn’t white or “mud.”

These were bushes I noticed at the University parking lot.  The ones with the blossoms were at Sandy Beach.  They are getting a little more direct sunlight so they are a little further along.

These ‘little flowers’ don’t last very long.  Soon they will become hard little white balls that, over the next month or two, will turn blue.  When they turn into ripe berries the bears (and humans!) will gorge themselves on them.

I hope you like the pictures!
