Water Experiment

Since I live around so much water I might as well take pictures of it…

Thanks to rprtphoto for the inspiration.

    • thanks – i tried a lot of different settings and this is the version i liked best

the sun was out just a little (rare here!) so i’ll have to tinker with the settings again to figure it out for cloudy days…

  1. Nice shot! Here’s a tip: Set your camera on a tripod or solid item like a rock, then set the timer if you have one. That will get you the best possible rock sharpness while allowing the slower shutter speed to soften the water. Sometimes even pressing the shutter manually will cause enough movement to add a little blur.

      • Cloudy days will work in your favour. You want the shutter sped to be slow so that the movement of the water blurs out smooth, and sunny days can mean the shutter will be too fast or it will mean blown-out highlights. Cloudy helps. Looking forward to seeing what you end up with!
